Some times, I want to call these “Feel Good Fridays” and just spread the joy!

So, here we go.

The political conventions concluded, and no matter which side of the fence we grow our grass, I hope we’re praying for all parties involved, as instructed by 1 Timothy 2:1-8: “I urge… that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”

The convention’s theme this week, “Forward”, reminded me of a blog I posted several months ago called, #MovingForward, highlighting worship leader-songwriter Israel Houghton’s 2009 megahit “Moving Forward”.

Guess what I found this morning?
A video of my wonderful friends at Greater Allen Cathedral ministering through dance to that very song, Moving Forward (VIDEO).

When I saw my beautiful friend, Dr. Kathleen S. Turner, (who choreographed the piece awhile ago) spontaneously leading all those dancers forward, it brought a huge grin to my face. There’s just no way to stay seated.

Dr. Kat, as we love to call her, founded the Allen Liturgical Dance Ministry in 1978 and directed it for 30 years, partnering first with Rev. Lucile Hill, then my sister-friend Rev. Eyesha Marable. The ministry grew to over 200 members with children to seasoned saints, men and women.

Dr. Kat received her Master of Divinity and Master of Sacred Theology from Yale Divinity School and recently finished her PhD at Fordham University. She will be teaching and publishing in the field of religious education and sharing “how both liturgical dance and the arts are teaching vehicles for the church as a community place of learning”. So proud of her! On the video, she’s the one in the front in red/black.

I share this video with you today, hoping it will lift your spirit and remind you to keep moving forward with God.

What are you doing this month? This year?
#MoveForward, Fam!

Lyrics:
Not going back
Moving ahead
Here to declare to You
The past is over in You
All things are made new
Surrender my life to Christ
I’m moving, moving forward

Naima

About Naima Lett

Naima loves helping folks find their purpose and follow their dreams while deepening their faith. Often called The Hollywood Christian, she believes everyone should find a reason to dance daily, enjoy the 80 degrees and a breeze of the LaLa at least once, and have her Grandmother's bread pudding or sweet potato pie on holidays. Both are divine! :=) -- Dr. Naima Lett, Author: Confessions of a Hollywood Christian, CoPastor: Hope in the Hills, Beverly Hills
