LA

Welcome back to the LaLa!

Sunshine.
Palm trees.
80 degrees with a breeze.
Gotta love it.

From the looks of it, life could appear quite perfect.
Manicured lawns.
Bird of paradise flowers.
Miniature poodles exiting Pimp My Pooch.

We enjoy days like this.
Because every LaLa resident knows that the exterior doesn’t always match the interior.

Mismatch

The championship purple and gold of the Lakers dims with a dismal season ending and determining whether to resign Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol.

The City, known for some of the wealthiest landowners in the world, has a hard time balancing its budget and continues to cut teachers, education programs, etc.
And the once-musical-dynasty Jackson family is back in court fighting over Michael’s death.

That fabulous car we see could be a person’s house for the month, and the trunk is the closet.
That picture-perfect family photo could have been staged for the paparazzi.
And that multi-million dollar palatial house on the hill could meet an earth tremor or mudslide that decides it would be better off leveled in three seconds.

Things are not always as they seem, but that’s why we learn to be sensitive to people’s situations and ask lots of questions and listen in between the pauses. :=)

Good to Be Back

Either way, it’s good to be back in the LaLa.

I had a marathon 2 months of travel and ministry and reconnect ions that I look forward to unpacking. I’m quite exhausted. My apologies for the late post today. :=)

How are you?
Does your exterior match your interior?
Are you at peace, not just as a front on the outside, but also on the inside?

It’s imperative that our outsides and insides reflect the same truth.

Remember Matthew 23? Jesus suggests that the religious leaders would do well to match their inside life and outside life. He gets a little gangster with it though. Verse 27-28: “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.”

Yeah, He went there. But it was to encourage us to match on the inside and outside. If we’ve been changed on the inside, it should bleed over onto the outside.

Whatever our Circumstances

Whatever our circumstances today, we don’t have to front. We can be real and authentic and walk in peace. It’s all good.

The LaLa may always be a little smoke and mirrors, but we don’t have to be thrown by that. We can choose to walk in truth, enjoy the sunshine and pat little Bella or Sadie who prances out of the doggie salon after getting her tresses trimmed.

I’m just saying,
Naima
