“Over the river
and through the woods
to Grandmother’s house we go!”

Well, we’re not at Grandma’s house, but we are on retreat – over the river and through the woods – in the mountains of California.

It was 39 degrees earlier. Brisk. Beautiful.
Pine trees that smell like Christmas.
Overlooking a crisp, pristine lake.
God’s creation is astounding.

There’s a Song For That!

Can’t you hear King David singing his Psalm 65:8-9?

The whole earth is filled with awe at Your wonders;
where morning dawns, where evening fades,
You call forth songs of joy.
You care for the land and water it;
You enrich it abundantly.
The streams of God are filled with water…

We All Need Retreats

We all need to periodically retreat.

Even Jesus took time to reboot.
For example, in Luke 4, Jesus preaches, heals the sick and casts out the demonic, then verse 42 says, “At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place.” He retreats.

That’s what Kevin and I are doing for a couple of days to rest and hear from the Lord. A friend told us about this complimentary, 2-day pastoral retreat in the mountains. There’s no TV or radio. I’m powering this blog connection by using my cell as a hotspot. It’s just us, God and His creation, a lot of relaxing, music and laughter. Boy, we needed this.

What about you?

Can you plan a retreat?
Can you take time to get away, va-cay or stay-cay?
Let’s make that happen.

Lots of love from the hills… literally,
Naima

About Naima Lett

Naima loves helping folks find their purpose and follow their dreams while deepening their faith. Often called The Hollywood Christian, she believes everyone should find a reason to dance daily, enjoy the 80 degrees and a breeze of the LaLa at least once, and have her Grandmother's bread pudding or sweet potato pie on holidays. Both are divine! :=) -- Dr. Naima Lett, Author: Confessions of a Hollywood Christian, CoPastor: Hope in the Hills, Beverly Hills
