Anybody down for a Leap Friday?!

I’m in.
Leaping into the weekend.
Leaping into the holidays.
Leaping, period.

I’m so glad 2012 is winding down. :=) The last 4 years have been a press, and I’m so ready to leap into 2013 and see what’s in store.

Anybody feel that way too?

I’m feeling Paul’s declaration in his letter to Philippians, Chapter 3 in which he says:

But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things… I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Candidly speaking, I do want to know Christ more; but mainly though in the power of His resurrection. Not so much in the participation of His sufferings. Who wants to suffer?
In my best Ferris Bueller’s Day Off impression, “Anyone? Anyone?”

But the more I go through on this side of heaven, the more I realize that all of it – the ups & downs, the in’s and out’s, the resurrection and suffering – all of it is a part of this journey. Jesus’ resurrection came by way of a wooden cross. But in that moment, when God raised Him from the dead, He conquered death forever for all of us. That’s something to leap over!

Forgetting what is behind, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

When we’ve been pressed, let’s choose to press forward.

You’re welcome to join me.

I can’t promise you fame. Can’t promise you fortune. But I can promise that there’s hardly a dull moment. There’s mega-maturing. There’s fulfillment, making a difference in the lives of others and doing what we’re born to do. There’s lots of seeing folks lives transformed supernaturally through the power of God. We have a heavenly Father who is faithful, honest and steadfast. He stands by His Word. And when His Son says “I will never leave you nor forsake you”, He means it.

We’re not sheltered from the super storms of life. But we’re not alone as we weather them. Some times, in the storm, we witness Jesus rebuke winds and speak to waves and say, “Hush! Be still!”

Other times, when the strong winds blow and waters get rough, we look up and see Jesus walking on the water. He doesn’t calm the wind, but he says “Come!”, and we get to defy nature, get out the boat and walk on water too.

Let’s do this.
Forgetting what lies behind, let’s press forward.
Let’s leap forward,
Naima
